Pupil roles

As a way of developing pupils’ life skills, linked to future employment and longer term aspirations, we advertise for and appoint pupils to specialty designed job roles that they can undertake within the academy. Pupils will have the opportunity to experience the process of applying for a job, including completing an application form, taking account of job descriptions and associated responsibilities.

If a pupil is interested in applying for a role, they are asked to apply formally for the position and then, if appropriate, take part in a short interview. Successful candidates will be invited take up their posts for a fixed period of time.

As with any normal employment, pupils will be able to resign and can be released from their duties after serving an appropriate notice period. Whilst this is as close to a real life process as possible, we take steps to ensure that this process is enjoyable for pupils and we are always sensitive to individual pupil’s feelings and needs. Guidance, support and encouragement will be given throughout.
