Art & Design helps learners develop positive attitudes to creative thinking and creative subjects, which benefits future learning. This subject encourages them to celebrate their own and others’ artistic experiences. This builds a sense of community in the classroom from an early age and fosters an openness to diversity as they experience art and design from different times and cultures.
Art at Robsack Wood gives learners the space to explore and express themselves freely, supporting the development of social and reflective skills, and encouraging teachers to nurture an environment where learners can take risks and build resilience.
“A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. “(National Curriculum 2014)
Design and Technology is an innovative and creative subject, with practical learning and problem solving at the heart of each project. As a subject, it allows children to develop a broad subject knowledge, drawing on their experiences in other subjects. It enables children to learn to take risks, becoming resourceful and enterprising individuals.
“High-quality design and technology education makes an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of the nation.” (National Curriculum 2014)
